Horns

in the march of 2000, HORNS was born in blood and forged from metal, hard rock, punk, and every other rip yer spine out kinda music. With influences like Sabbath, the Melvins, Motorhead, Nirvana, and the list could go on for eternity, the sound and the philosophy were obvious; keep it simple and loud as fuck!!! The origainal line-up of Horns consisted of Mookie-guitar/vox, Sam-bass, Donnie-drums; from 2000-2005 this line-up would be one of the many bands forefronting the resurgence in the Ft. Collins music scene. Along with bands like Fongoul/Arson Saints, Monofog, Fastluck, Batlord, Han Cholo, and many more(too many for a shit college town); Ft. Collins was a breeding ground for underground rock. With bars & clubs like Surfside7, BackAlley Lounge, the Starlight, and Aggie theatre, it was easy to understand why there was an unbelievable amount of talent playing damn near every night! While Mookie and Donnie had been playing music together for a while, it wasn’t until about a year after they moved back from PDX, they met a kid named Sam Heethen; and after a couple months of non-stop practice and songs like “Bleed”, “Throne of Blood”, and the timeless classic “Junkie’s Dead”, Horns quickly moved up the ranks in the above mentioned scene that used to be. So the year’s went on and Horns would play with such acts as Thrones, HankIII, D.R.I., Bad Wizard, Fireballs of Freedom, Drag the River, and many others; we also went on a few mini tours to Austin, for SXSW, and also out to SoCAL for a few shows. With all this momentum and a new Blasting Room CD “Soused” we did what any band in their right mind would do, we went our seprate ways. Actually, Mookie moved to Denver with Sam following shortly thereafter, and Donnie moved in with some longtime friends of ours in sunny Whale’s Vagina, i mean San Diego. So it would be a while before our heros would find Donnie’s replacement, but eventually the almighty Jay fucking Sayler from Bill the Welder, and Poor Celebrity Death Cult fame would take his seat upon the throne, and Horns was back!!! With a handful of old tunes and new songs like “At the Stake”, “Gutshot”, and “CutThrew”, you can find Horns playing the likes of Larimer Lounge, Bender’s and 15th st. Tavern, so come check this shit out!!! Look here for dates, tours, and new CD coming out hopefully soon. If yer looking to book HORNS at yer club; get a hold of me, Mookie, or our new kinda manager who doesn’t really get paid anything except beer from a show, Worm from zerotalent LLC.
