Oscify

Hey what’s up my name is Leo, but most of you know me as Doctor Oscify.

A bit about my self: I’ve been making up funny little nursery rhymes since I could talk, and that eventually evolved into freestyles when I was 8 or so. I started recording some really shitty music in 2001, when I was 16, and the rest, as they say is history.

Its been a long road. In 2005 I began to get some notoreity through internet sites such as Soundclick and Myspace for a street album called “Prescription Grade Hip-Hop”, eventually gaining the attention of G1, owner of the Detroit indie label, New Ground Collabo (NGC) who signed me to record a project called Versify, with the acclaimed German producer Ulliversal. The album was well recieved, and I’m told an early version of the album even made it into Def Jam’s A&R office, but nothing came of it so I kept rapping.

In 2006, I joined a crew called The Secondary with Diverge & Ethix. We played a ton of shows with folks like Zion I, Blackalicious, Dj Babu, Pep Love and quite a few more. Before we could finish our album, however, I found myself kicked out of the crew for being a complete fucking idiot. The rest of the year was essentially a wash, although Versify was selling well and recieved some pretty good reviews. I was beginning to question my decision to drop out of school to become a rapper, even though my music was starting to get better (I think, that could be totally wrong).

In 2007, I dusted myself off, made up a rumor about signing to Interscope to make all my rap friends jeolous, actually started seeing some fame, and even toured a little bit. Also, I formed a group with AllPointsBeyond, Skimp Killah, and Dj Deadbeat Dominic, called Magnificent Wingspan. AllPointsBeyond and I thought of the name one night while getting extremely intoxicated, and decided it was such a sweet name we basically had to form a crew. Its a classy outfit and will probably make me and all of the Spruce Goose Records family very rich soon. If you havent heard us, venture to our myspace page immediately.

Alright, that’s all for now because I’m tired and fucking hungry, but i’ll write the rest of my bio later, fuck it, maybe I’ll just write a book, basically thanks for showing up. I love you.
