Saoshyant

Saoshyant’s roots began 6 years ago when guitarist Scott Beckman joined bassist Jeff Newsom in the modern rock cover band ‘A Vicious Cycle’. AVC actively performed at Denver’s A-list cover band venues (Eck’s Saloon, No Excuses, Brewski’s, Iliff Park Saloon, etc.) for more than a year. During that time, Scott began writing original music on the side and was later joined by Jeff to form a writing project. It would be a sign of things to come.

When the cover band ended, they teamed-up with drummer Brodie Liberato, who had been playing in the local cover band ‘Chaser’, and a vocalist to form the original hard rock band ‘Evolve’. Evolve built a dedicated following and performed at Denver’s premier live music venues (Gothic Theatre, Ogden Theatre, Bluebird Theater, Herman’s Hideaway, etc.) for nearly 2 years. They played alongside several touring national and international acts, and were a featured Pepsi Smash artist on Yahoo! Music. Eventually they recorded a 6 song EP with a different vocalist in a studio project called ‘Somnea’, but are mostly known for their live shows.

More than a year would pass before the trio would once again come together. What they have created is the original progressive rock band Saoshyant. The sound is dynamic and melodic; complex and technical, yet highly artistic. Saoshyant is the realization of their collective vision.

In September, Saoshyant released their first CD, ‘The Gravity EP’. They are currently writing new music for a full-length concept album, and will begin recording in November. Look for it in early 2009.
